Happy 2016! With a new year upon us, there are resolutions eeeeeverywhere. Lots of diets, new cleaning and bed time habits, and way over capacity at the gym. It can be pretty easy for some of us to get irritated with all of the “New Years Resolutions” that we are hearing and seeing, or we can choose to be inspired and work towards some of our own. Whether you believe you need to make some changes this year or not, there is always something to improve upon. Today I wanted to share some fun challenges and ideas for helping create a better YOU in 2016.

Never too Old

1. Start a Photo Challenge

Photo challenges are a fun way to give yourself a little task each day, and make you think a little. I thought it would be fun to kick off the New Year with a 30 Day photo challenge, which I started on Instagram on January 1st. Feel free to join me for the rest of the challenge, or to start it yourself right now! I’ve had a lot of fun with it this week and tried to pick some specific days that make me reflect on the past year and the year to come.

SS PHOTO CHALLENGEDid I mention there is a GIVEAWAY involved for anyone that participates? Find out more on my Instagram profile HERE.

take a photoI like this idea as well. If you can keep up with the challenge, it would be cool to look back at all your photos at the end of 2016.

2. Become a Book Worm… or fuel your reading passion!

2016 Reading ChallengeI am not a big reader, but each year I try to convince myself to read a little bit more! I found this cute 2016 Book Challenge on a blog titled “Rebecccah Writes.” See her blog post HERE

3. Random Acts of Kindness

Positively Smitten Blog nailed it on the head. Instead of thinking of ways that we can improve ourselves, why don’t we do something to make others feel good? This is a 52 week challenge that I am am currently participating in. Even if I only get through HALF of these, it is still more good than was being done before. 🙂

4. Keep it simple.

Maybe you want something as simple and cute as a free printable that you can fill out and pin to your wall as a reminder each day? I like this particular one from Thirty Handmade Days:

5. Save some Moo-lah

We ALL have things we are looking to save for. Luckily I have a fiance of mine who finally convinced me to get a savings account this year (I like to spend my money), so I am on the right track for 2016! Here is a great printable from “Hello Pretty Bird” Blog on how to save $1000 in a year.

6. Change it up

Like to set goals, but not necessarily year-long resolutions? This DIY chart from Popsugar is perfect for you! Use post-its to change up your goals, whether they are weekly or monthly.

7. Start baby steps NOW to tackle your dreams

This is my favorite resolution idea I have seen so far. Found at oprah.com (of course), are 7 checklists pulled from an inspirational journal titled “The 52 Lists Project.” Make sure you fill out the lists in order, and then tape them to your wall to add to through out the year. Very powerful and more of a focus on the inner YOU than the superficial you.

Most important mantra to keep in mind when thinking over what you want to accomplish in 2016?

This is the Beginning

So what are you waiting for?

Uniquely,
B.
