This past weekend I attended my fiance’s (never gets old saying that) holiday work party. I thought it was a fabulous idea that they decided to push the party from December to January. They are well aware of how crazy schedules can get the month of December, so it gave everyone something to look forward to.
The best part about these parties is that they are THEMED! We all know that any fashionista loves a good excuse to dress up, so I immediately started brainstorming on some outfit ideas. This year’s theme was “Baby it’s Cold Outside”– 1940’s Hollywood glamour, blues, whites and silvers. I have been wanting to try out the Rent the Runway website for some time now, and thought this would be the perfect opportunity!
To go along with the theme I narrowed down my search to long and/or sparkly dresses in whites, blues, and silvers. I locked in on the maxi and ball gown dresses that had reviews saying they were too long– that meant they would be the perfect length for me. 🙂
Here is a glimpse at what a dress order looks like:
You have the option of selecting a 4 or 8 day rental, based on the occasion you are needing to wear it for. The other convenience that I really appreciated was the free second size that they send you. It can be nerve racking to rent a dress while not knowing if it is going to fit you perfectly! By reading through all of the customer reviews, I was able to notice if the dress ran big or small and selected my other dress size accordingly.
The dress arrived at my door step 2 days prior to the event all dry cleaned and ready to go. I had rented a gaudy necklace to go with the Hollywood Glam theme as well. I didn’t even know that they had accessories! Their options are endless.
The dress and necklace were so gorgeous that I added some simple pearl earrings and nude ankle strap heels that I snagged from the Target clearance section last winter (8 bucks!) and my outfit was complete. Add some Pinterest inspired vintage waves and you’ve got yourself a 1940’s Retro-Glam outfit!
To top it off, I had some adorable driver cap, bow tie wearing arm candy– isn’t he the cutest thing?!
I sent the dress and necklace back the next day. They make it just as simple as placing your order. All I had to do was pack up the dresses and necklace, switch out the mailing label with a pre-made label that had been sent to me, and lock it up with the plastic lock! They even have step by step instructions.
I had such a wonderful experience using Rent the Runway and highly recommend it to anyone out there looking to dress up without purchasing a dress that they probably won’t wear again (although I sure wish I could have re-worn this one!) I plan on using it multiple times this year for wedding related activities and have even offered the option to my Maid and Matron of Honor to use for the wedding day!
